We’ve been shopping and walking past Uneeka for a while now and never even noticed there was a cafe upstairs! Call us blind, or just set in our ways, but we always head to our favourite lunch spots when in Truro. We’ve now realised that there’s a whole other world out there that we are yet to discover and Cafe Uneeka is one of the first steps in our journey.
You may have read our review of Bone China just down the road in Truro which we visited not long ago. Cafe Uneeka is our newest discovery…
Found upstairs to the homeware and gift shop Uneeka in central Truro with views looking over the main hub. There aren’t many tables and when we turned up at the end of half term all the seats were taken. You can book a lunch slot though so make sure you call ahead if you’re planning on visiting during peak times. It’s a great place to head if you have gluten free or vegan friends as the staff are more thnn accommodating, and lots of the menu will be suitable.
The menu is small but mighty, and doesn’t disappoint. We opted for the sharing falafel veggie board and the chicken and coriander pesto sandwich. Both were beautifully presented and after only a small wait we were delivered two very colourful plates.
The salads that were served on the side were epic enough, let alone the actual dish. We were treated to delicious little falafels (which looked very much homemade) along with mountains of feta cheese, olive and bread. It tasted scrumptious and there was so much served we couldn’t finish all of the bread and olives. We felt bad for doing so, although we would’ve squeezed it in if we weren’t in skinny jeans!
To accompany our lunch we had a wonderful loose leaf tea which came in its own glass pot which just added to the charm of Cafe Uneeka. There were lots of wonderful cakes and pastries on offer but we were just too stuffed. We will have to pop in for coffee and cake next time…
Cafe Uneeka is very colourfully decorated with its own unique style just like the products in the Uneeka shop downstairs. It’s easy to browse the shelves to find lots of exciting gifts and nicknacks for your home or for others. With Christmas fast approaching, Uneeka is worth a visit to fill stockings or find that perfect home gift.
They sell ethically sourced products from jewellery to candles, bags and stationary. It’s like an Aladdins cave of gems, we just wished we had a home big enough for more Uneeka goodies.
Visit the Cafe Uneeka website here.
They can be found at 5 Boscawen Street TR1 2EL.
