Breakfast at Birdies Bistro, Hayle Estuary

Birdies Bistro is the perfect twitchers spot on the banks of the Hayle Estuary at Lelant Saltings. Found on the one-way road towards St Ives this little cafe is in a perfectly sheltered position to sit and watch the tide come in and out and appreciate the nature found right outside.

From inside or out you can watch the little branch line train make its way to and from St Ives as well as get the binoculars out and spot a rare bird or two.

Hayle Estuary often welcomes many a bird that cannot be seen in many other places, and bird watching enthusiasts often line the walls of the nature reserve armed with a camera and a beady eye.

Birdies Bistro

Breakfast is served at Birdies from 10 until 12 and we were quick to head there when a brunch was in order. We have visited many a time before but only usually for coffee and cake so it was about time we tried some of the delicious home cooked food too.

We all opted for the bacon and egg focaccia roll which was so fresh and tasty. It was just the right size so that you weren’t left still wanting more, or absolutely stuffed which often comes with a full fry up. Teamed with a lovely cup of breakfast tea and a bottle of HP what more is needed at this time of day!

Birdies Bistro also offer a selection of cakes and lunchtime meals if you don’t make it in time for the breakfast menu. At times they can be very busy so if you’re a large party be sure to call ahead to make sure they save you a table.

Birdies Bistro Venue

The Birdies Bistro venue is also available to hire out for weddings and parties, so if you’ve got an event in mind pop along to see what they can offer. We went to a wedding here a couple of years ago and the location, matched with sunshine and tasty food was just perfect.

They are very much a dog friendly venue, with the majority of people that come along bringing a 4 legged friend. If the weathers nice there are lots of tables outside for you and your dog to enjoy. There are some great Cornish walks nearby so it’s a great place to stop halfway or to end your walk.

Had breakfast here today, full English (or Cornish) cooked to perfection and a full plate with coffee and toast. Thanks for the recommendation
