Cornish Christmas Events this December!

The Cornish Christmas Events are stacking up with our calendars full to the brim with exciting fairs, events and shows happening this year! All around Cornwall there are wonderful family friendly events to join in with in the run up to Christmas.

Here’s some of the best Cornish Christmas Events to head to this December in Cornwall…

Ice Skating and Festival of Lights at Eden, until 18th February

One of Cornwall’s highlights in the winter months is our one and only proper ice skating rink! Available during the darkest of months it’s a great family day out teamed with exploring the biomes. You will need to have a ticket to enter Eden to get to the ice skating rink.

Eden are also putting on a light display with performances at any time between 5pm and 8pm on the following dates, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 10th and 15–23 December; 27–30 December.

Falmouth, 27th November – 24th December

Falmouth are offering festive activities for the whole of December. Starting with Christmas lantern making workshop on Sunday 26th November. On Thursday 30th November the Christmas lights will be switched on with Santas Grotto and late night shopping starting and commencing every Thursday in December. Sunday the 3rd hosts a Christmas tree festival. On Saturday 16th there will be a Santa fun run. There will be a live nativity show on the 10th and Christmas movies being shown on The Moor on the 8th. ‘Frozen’ will visit the town on the 9th. On Saturday 23rd the Falmouth Harmony Choir to sing you into Christmas…

Christmas in Looe, all month

Starting with a lantern parade and carol service from 7pm on the 1st December. Santa arrives in Looe on the 2nd from 12 – 7pm. On the 3rd there’s a Santa Fun Run from 12pm with entry only £2 and costumes a necessity! At the Sclerder Abbey on the 9th December there’s a Christmas Concert, and on the 18th there’s carols at St Nicholas Church.

The month ends with a humungous NYE party and fireworks at 6pm and midnight!

Polgoon, throughout December

Every weekend throughout December from 3 – 5pm Polgoon are having their Christmas events. With local choirs bringing the festive cheer, as well as local producers showcasing lots of gift ideas. You’ll be able to get your Christmas trees from them too, so pop along for a glass of mulled wine or cider and a mince pie!

Father Christmas at Bedruthan, 1st – 24th

The Sugar and Spice grotto at Bedruthan welcomes Santa all the way up to Christmas Eve. Tickets available from £10 per child (includes admission for one adult) and can be purchased here.

Etsy Christmas Fair, 2nd – 4th

Being held in St Ives Guildhall, it’s free to enter with craft workshops, lots of well know names and live music over the weekend.

Santa in St Ives, 2nd

Santa arrives into St Ives harbour with a little help from the RNLI at 6.30pm.

Trevenna Cross Christmas Festival, from 2nd

Visit this wonderful Grotto and Christmas Festival on the weekends of the 2nd/3rd, 9th/10th and 16th/17th as well as late night shopping on Thursdays until 8pm! Expect lots of festive fun including stories, photos, live music and entertainment and a huge selection of decorations, trees and gifts! All helping to raise money for The Childrens’ Hospice SW and The Invictus Trust.

Flambards Christmas Fayre, 2nd & 3rd

Head to Flambards for a weekend of Christmas fun. With over 70 craft stalls on offer throughout the Victorian Village and surrounding areas this is definitely one event we won’t be missing!

Santa by Steam, 2nd – 24th

Bodmin and Wenford Railway welcome Santa for a one hour journey, with elves, presents and mince pies, it’s a great family trip. Tickets are £13 – £14.50.

Santa Run, 3rd

Why not run around The Eden Project dressed in Red for a good cause. The Santa Run is organised to raise money for Cornwall Hospice South West.

Sleeping Beauty, 5th – 31st

This years panto at the Hall for Cornwall is Sleeping Beauty! And with none other than The Kernow King taking to the stage, this promises to get you giggling for Christmas. Get your tickets here.

Padstow Christmas Festival, 7th – 10th

One of the biggest Cornish Christmas Events around, you know the Christmas season is in full swing when this festival arrives in town. With chefs, food producers and craft stalls you can expect thousands of people visiting Padstow over the weekend. On the seaside harbour of this North Cornwall town there will be lots of festival fun, cookery demonstrations, food and drinks on offer. It’s a great opportunity to make a dent in your Christmas shopping, see Santa arrive, live music, carol singers and watch fireworks at 8.30pm on Friday 8th. There’s also a lantern parade and santa fun run along the Camel Trail over the weekend.

Christmas at Trereife, 8th – 10th

Head along from 5 – 9pm on Friday evening for a shopping preview including mulled wine and mince pies. Or from 10 – 5pm on Saturday and Sunday for a lovely local shopping event inside Trereife House.

Heligan Christmas Market, 9th & 10th

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are hosting many festive stalls, artisan crafts, food and pleanty of Christmas atmosphere in the count down to Christmas! Discover more here.

Jubilee Wharf, 9th – 10th

A free Christmas event in Penryn, with indoor and outdoor stalls offering lots of hand made crafts.

Santa at Lappa Valley, 9th – 24th

Board their train to Santas Grotto for a festive day out!

Santa Trains will run on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th, Wednesday 20th, Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd,  Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th December, and tickets are £12.50 for adults and children.

You need to buy tickets before as they sell out!

The Winter Gift Fayre, 12th – 17th

A new Christmas market in Truro this year, as a replacement to last years Victorian Market. With lots of gifts and treats all displayed in a very festive manner. Open from 10am – 5pm, and 9pm on Wednesday for late night shopping. On the 13th Father Christmas will be in the Pannier Market, and on the 15th at 7.30pm there will be a BIG sing at the Cathedral.

Bah Humbug! A Christmas Carol, 14th – 31st

You have to head to a Panto over Christmas, it’s tradition! The Princess Pavilion in Falmouth are showcasing A Christmas Carol this year and it’s promising to be wonderful.

Heligan by Night, 14th – 30th

Displaying the art of illumination around the Lost Gardens of Heligan especially for Christmas. On the 14th, 15th, 16th, 21th, 22th, 23th, 28th, 29th and 30th December, from 5.30pm with last entry at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 and not included with ‘normal entry’.

Nadelik (Christmas) at Pendennis, 16th & 17th

Falmouth’s Pendennis Castle is open from 11 – 4 and are offering festive dancing, stories and carol signing. Tickets are £8.40 for adults, £5.0 for children and £21.80 for a family ticket.

Jungle all the Way at Newquay Zoo, 16th & 17th

A family day out with everything from a candy cane trail, Santa stories, local bands and a festive feast at the Lemur Cafe. Entrance into Newquay Zoo is £14.55 for adults and £10.90 for children.

Montol, 16th – 21st

A six day festival celebrating the midwinter solstice, a traditional Cornish celebration of Montol Eve on the 21st December. During the week lanterns and masks are made, with carols, stories and a Ceilidh. Fire beacons are lit throughout the town with the burning of the Mock and lighting of the Cornish Yule Log. Intrigued? Then head along to Penzance to see for yourself!

The Mousehole Cat, 17th – 7th January

Being shown in the Solomon Browne Memorial Hall in Mousehole. The Mousehole Cat is one of those stories you grow up with in Cornwall, so to see it come to life will be magical. For tickets and to find out more head here.

Robin Hood, 22nd – 29th

Kidz r Us in St Ives are telling the story of Robin Hood for their Panto this year. Find out more here.
