Porthmeor Beach Cafe is one of our top places to stop when the sun’s shining in St. Ives. St. Ives itself is truly wonderful any time of the year, but there’s something about Porthmeor Beach that just draws you in. Whether it’s sitting up on the Island looking down on the beaches of the town or walking along towards Clodgy Point there’s always something interesting to see.
Porthmeor is a very popular family beach and is also a great spot for the local surfers so having an inviting place on the beach to grab a coffee or some food is a must!
Porthmeor Beach Cafe hits all the spots offering inside or al fresco dining, and even cosy alcoves outside to wrap up with a blanket in the cooler months. You can sit and watch the world go by, or the tides come in and out, while enjoying some top notch local seafood.
With only a small menu they have packed in a whole load of yummy Cornish sea-inspired food in perfect tapas sharing dishes. You can opt for small lunch meals, or cake instead, but the tapas comes highly recommended.
This time we chose to share the seared scallops, king prawns and crispy salt and pepper squid along with handcut chips and bread. And it was all delicious.
With a view like this how can you not enjoy your food…
If it’s a dry day there’s loads of seating outside, and with pretty much every seat in the house having such a wonderful view you really will be spoilt!
The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and will be happy to help you choose from all the deliciously sounding menu options.
Be sure to eye up the cakes on your way in too, as you may want to save room to sample one of the delights before you leave!
Make sure you swing by this great seaside spot when you’re next visiting St. Ives.
