An evening at The Bowgie Inn, Crantock

We have heard lots about The Bowgie Inn and on a recent camping trip in Crantock thought we should give it a try.

This wonderfully coloured pink pub is found perched high on the headland above Crantock Beach with magnificent views over the surf, River Gannel and Newquays Pentire headland.

When you are sat on the beach or catching the waves of Crantocks golden sand it’s hard not to notice this pub, so next time you’re in the area be sure to hunt it out.

We visited in the early evening and were surprised by how many people were already settled in and enjoying their evening out. The wind was a little fresh so we decided to sit inside on this occasion, if we weren’t eating we would have braved the al fresco tables.

The Bowgie Inn has a lot of seating inside and out, so you should always we able to grab a table with a magnificent sea view…

After studying the menu we opted for the homemade lasagne, the fact that it’s been made using the same family recipe for 40 years just made it irresistible. Also we chose the beef stroganoff from the daily specials board, which had lots of tempting options on it. We ended up sharing the two meals between us, so I can say that they were both delicious.

Enjoyed with an ice cold cider, the meals went down far too quickly, and unfortunately we didn’t save enough room for a pudding!

We must remember next time, as the warm chocolate fudge cake sounds like a treat!

The Bowgie Inn

The Bowgie Inn is one of Newquay and Crantocks most famous restaurants. With such a wonderful view, plenty of seating and parking, there’s no wonder it’s so popular.

Many visitors return year on year for their holidays, especially when staying in Crantock as it’s so easy to get to. When holidaying in Newquay sometimes it’s nice to find quieter villages nearby and experience the more laid back Cornish lifestyle.
