The Cornish Barn is found on the historic and well-known character filled Chapel Street in Penzance. As part of the Artists Residence Cornwall, there’s lots of quirky decor and spaces to be found. The building used to be a 16th Century Coaching Inn, but now serves the locals with delicious food and tantalising beverages.
Primarily they are a smokehouse and bar, but also offer a rustic selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner options using locally sourced Cornish produce. We visited for lunch to put the fuss to the test and see how yummy their instagram perfect food really is!
The Cornish Barn Food
The food menu is small but mighty with a choice of brunch, salad or burgers on their lunchtime menu. There was also a handful of daily specials available including seafood options. We went for the halloumi and Mediterranean vegetable salad, a prawn and avocado salad and a halloumi and falafel burger with a side of scrumptious chips.
The presentation and taste were top notch with everyone completely demolishing their plates. We will be sure to visit again next time we’re in Penzance.
It’s not all about the food as The Cornish Barn opens itself up in the evenings for cocktails and live music. There’s lots of places to sit and relax, with an outside Festival Garden to enjoy the long summer evenings as well as a smaller outdoor terrace. Inside the decor is tasteful with many tables in different rooms making it a great place to catch up with friends or for a work time lunch.
Pop along and have a look for yourself…
If you want to make a day/evening of it then pop along to Eureka Escape while you’re nearby for an hour of trying to escape from a locked room!
