Christmas day swims are something of the norm in Cornwall, and growing up as part of a Surf Life Saving Club it’s just an annual event that everyone gets involved with. If you’ve never been brave enough to face the chilly waves with your Christmas hat on then maybe this year is your moment to experience it!
There are literally hundreds of people across Cornwall taking part in a festive swim this year. You never know you may find a new hobbie, or make friends with some other crazy Cornish people.
These traditional Christmas swims have been happening for years, so if you’re not going to get wet then at least head along to see for yourself and offer a cosy towel and warm drink to those participants after!
Here’s where to find some of the best Cornish Christmas Day swims, but you can always start your own!
ps. Just remember the lifeguards aren’t on duty, so make sure you stay safe, and never swim alone!
